Three things

File under... Day to Day — mylo @ 6:35 pm

As I’m unpacking I actually discovered I have a living room.  Cool hunh?

Somehow I discovered a goonies fan site, and I’m watching some of the videos.  I realize that there are three things our generation (mine anyway) can’t argue.

  1. The true leader of the autobots was, and always shall be Optimus Prime.  He is wise, strong, and can kick ass in any given situation.  The series ended when he died, PERIOD!
  2. The lion Voltron was the best.  It was simple, 5 lions, five heroes.  The sword was cooler, and the plot was easy to follow.  Zharkhan sent a monster to kill Voltron, Voltron handed the monster it’s ass in a wicker basket.  Plus the team was loyal to a fault, when one of theirs was captured they fought their way to a different galaxy and kicked the crap out of anything that stood in their way.  Anything else involving a giant transforming robot made out of animals or vehicles (except transformers, and robotech [macross saga only]) are pale imitations.
  3. Finally The Goonies was one of the finest pieces of cinema ever made.  To this day it’s still watchable.   You still have your favorite Goonie (admit it!), and you still sort of hope that a sequel is made somehow.

So I realize that out of all the research and reading I’ve done for my novel there was and is something I was missing for all of this time.  Something that would fit perfectly into it.  That is the Goonies.

It’s similar, a group of kids looking for adventure.  One definitely knew of the other, both groups are missing, and far off from home.

So I’m thinking with the new hotness I’ll watch the Goonies as soon as I get a free two hours.  I have the DVD, I go to the new DVD pile in my living room and lo and behold…  It’s missing.

WHY HAVE YOU CURSED ME WITH A GOONIE-LESS HOUSEHOLD LORD!!!!!!
