Retraction,
A while ago (and I’m too lazy to find the post) I stated that in Rockaway someone tossed my glasses into the garbage to probably teach me a life lesson (my guess the life lesson would have been ‘Don’t put stuff on the dining room table’)
So I’m spending the day unpacking. I’m expecting Miss Brit tomorrow so I can show her around a bit, (yes part of the tour is where the battle of Brooklyn was) I’m also getting the new TV (HOO RAH!) so I need to clear space fast. One box spills out, and a bunch of shoes fall out. From one of the shoes, a set of glasses spill out as well.
It takes me a second to comprehend what happened. These things are chewed up, paint is flecking off, they’re bent and rebent and twisted to a shape that barely resembles specs.
When I realize that these are an older set I started to figure out which set they were and from when. Then I realize it was the fabled lost glasses of Rockaway. They were in pretty much the same exact shape as they were lost in. They were the same set I spent the better part of a year looking for.
Do you have any idea how tough game testing is without proper vision? Eventually I finally had the money and bought a new set, but still I could have used these.
Oh well, so I take it back they weren’t thrown out in a misguided effort to teach me something important. They were probably hidden in a misguided effort to teach me something important.
